AMA Arenacross opening weekend results

It was the opening weekend for the AMA Arenacross presented by Kicker. We saw round one action on Friday and round two on Saturday and there was some big names and great action in the opening rounds. The racing took place in Reno, Nevada and the series moves to Boise for the next two rounds.

AX Pro Class

This class was pretty stacked with talent for the opening rounds as a number of riders are using these rounds for warm up to the Supercross season and new entries to the series. All this added competition is going to give Kyle Peters a challenge to try to earn his sixth championship this season. Vince Friese had a great weekend going perfect on Friday for the overall and a second overall on Saturday allowed him to exit the weekend with the points lead.

X Pro Class

The X Pro Class is new for the 2025 season of AMA Arenacross; it’s an all-electric class for pro riders. This is a first for Arenacross to showcase these electric bikes at this level with these top athletes. With the likes of Josh Hill, Justin Bogle, and Michael Hicks there was sure to be some action-packed racing in this new class. Josh Hill was impressive as expected, winning three of the four heat races of the weekend, giving him the overall on Friday, but a bad second moto resulted in a sixth on Saturday. Michael Hicks was Mr. consistent with second place finishes in both rounds, leaving him with the points lead after this opening weekend.

Clash Class

The Clash Class is the top finishers from the X Pro (Electric) and AX Pro classes of the evening that battle together. This is the first combined racing of gas and electric bikes in Pro ranks in the US and will serve as an experiment for the AMA and other series.

The Friday race in this Clash Class was a great battle between the top three. The racecraft of Friese on the 450 was just enough to edge out Hill, who ended up losing a spot to Politelli also. The electric bikes got great starts but the gas bikes were good in the whoops and ended up taking the top two spots on Friday.
