Injury updates heading into Thunder Valley weekend

It’s been a bit of a wild year so far with injuries and the list keeps growing. Here are a few of the latest updates for riders heading into racing this weekend at Thunder Valley in Colorado.

Phil Nicoletti

Phil had a crash in a roller section at Hangtown last weekend and did not continue racing. We were all waiting to see if it was going to cause him to miss any time on his farewell tour season. Per his update on Instagram, Phil is going to miss a couple of races but looks like no serious damage.

Unfortunately no racing in the next few weeks. Damaged some shit in my knee in the crash at Hangtown. Luckily, my ACL graft is still good. Do my best to push the limits and get back asap. Still pissed with how that crashed even happened.

Michael Mosiman

This one has had most of us guessing on what was going on with Michael. He had an injury in Supercross and missed most of the season but was presumed to be healthy and getting ready to race outdoors. But he did not line up for the first two rounds of Pro Motocross and the curiosity only built. An update from Yamaha says that Michael had a practice crash while preparing for outdoors and will miss the entire outdoor season this year. This sucks for him as he has had a lot of bad luck with injuries and has not been able to consistently show the speed and talent that he has.

It’s super disappointing to get injured so close to the start of the outdoor season, especially feeling as good as I was. The team had put in so many hard hours to give me the best bike possible, and I hadn’t felt that comfortable and confident in a long time. It’s heart-wrenching for us both to have put in so much work and not be able to show what I can do at the races. That being said, God has never wasted any of my injuries in the past, and I’m confident he won’t let this setback go to waste. In times like these, it always makes me think about how crazy the story is going to be and how much sweeter it will make the victories ahead. Thank you to Bobby Regan and everyone at Star Yamaha for continuing to support and believe in me despite this challenge.
