Jason Anderson is stepping away from racing until further notice. This is similar to what happened last season during Supercross, also, where he took a break from racing and listed as unknown health reasons for the break. Fast forward to this year, and no updates on what happened last season and leading into Daytona this past weekend, it was announced that Jason would not be racing, and it sounded like similar reasoning. Then, on Sunday, a post on the Vital forums that quickly spread on social media about a domestic abuse arrest on 12/15 ignited a new discussion on what might be going on. The charges have since been dropped, but little other details are known, and doubt any further discussion will be had from the parties involved. The PMG Suzuki team announced that Jason would be stepping away from racing the SMX Season until further notice, and the official statement is shown below.
“Pipes Motorsports Group announces that rider Jason Anderson will be stepping away from Supercross competition for an indefinite period to address personal, family, and ongoing medical matters. This decision was made jointly by Jason and his management team in coordination with the organization.
Pipes Motorsports Group respects Jason and his family’s privacy and fully supports his decision. No further statements will be made at this time.”
