Nashville Supercross injury updates - Sexton, Roczen, Marchbanks, Kitchen, and McAdoo

The Nashville round was tough on a few athletes this year with hard crashes in both the 250SX and 450SX classes. There were injuries last year in this round also but just an odd coincidence likely. The day started with lots of mishaps and tip-overs in the sand section and the long rhythm section after the finish line saw rider after rider drift to the outside and catch the tough blocks causing crashes. Hopefully, most of the incidents will leave the athletes without long-lasting issues and should be ready to line up this weekend in Philadelphia.

Chase Sexton

We saw Chase with a huge crash early in the 450SX main in Nashville that sent him flying into the ground. He got up visibly in pain and holding his shoulder. The good news from Chase is that he is sore but will line up in Philly this weekend for round 15 of racing. He is now 40 points out of the championship so providing a meteor does not strike those ahead of in he is unfortunately out of the championship race. He can continue to build confidence on the KTM and get ready for outdoors.

Ken Roczen

After a few minutes into the 450SX main event, Ken’s shock malfunctioned when landing the big triple jump into the whoops. This turned the read shock into a pogo stick essentially causing him to crash hard at the end of the whoops with his left leg and foot taking the brunt of the impact. He did get initial x-rays at the track from the medical crew and they did not show anything broken but he is getting evaluated and some MRI scans to see if there is any other damage. Will wait for an update to see how quickly he can return to racing.

Garrett Marchbanks

Garrett went down in the first section of the moto after colliding with Jordan Smith’s rear tire in the air. He was on the ground for a while and he seemed to land into the face of the next jump which seems to make the impact harder typically. The heat race was red flagged so he could be safely moved off the track. He was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated.

Later Garrett reposted a story that his girlfriend had posted saying that he was up and moving. He did suffer a concussion and a broken thumb. There is no indication on how much time he will miss.

Levi Kitchen

On the first lap of the 250 showdown main event, McAdoo drifted over and undercut Levi sending him to the ground. He was also run over by another rider and did not immediately get back up. He did remount the bike and attempt to race again. The first few laps he was not at full pace but as adrenaline kicked in he seemed to pick up the pace and was able to work his way back to 14th place and salvage some good points to only be down 3 points to Hampshire in the title race. He did post a picture after the race that he was in a hospital bed and was guessing it might be broken ribs. We are waiting for final confirmation to this and can assume if there is any way he can race he will in two weeks at Round 16 in Colorado.

Cameron McAdoo

As mentioned in the Levi Kitchen update that Cameron bumped him and then Cameron went down in the turn right after. He was also involved in a crash with a privateer earlier in the day and both of those incidents hurt his shoulder enough that he could not continue in the main event after trying for a couple of laps. There is not a diagnosis yet on the issue so we will have to wait for the update from the team or Cameron on when and if he can return to racing Supercross.
