Seattle Supercross qualifying notes

The main headline heading into round 11 weekend in Seattle was unfortunately the weather again. There was rail forecasted for Friday and Saturday for part of the day. The dirt wurx team has kept the track mostly covered until just before qualifying starts this morning. Press day ride was canceled to keep the track as dry as possible. When they pulled off the plastic this morning the track look decent with the exception on the start straight and the dips in between the jumps were all heavy saturated or have standing water in them. The team will continue to work on the track throughout the day and if the rain holds off it should be a good track for racing in the night show.

250SX Qualifying 1

This is our first look at Michael Mosiman who was fastest qualifier in group B with a 51.803 lap time. He did lose the front end and tip over in sand section once.

The track was greasy and ruts started to build up as the session went on.

Carter Biese was 10th in group B, with smaller field should be good to get into night show

During the group a session the track was really starting to rut up now.

Maybe track slowed down a bit but Mosiman was a full second faster that Kitchen who topped the group A session.

450SX Qualifying 1

The 450 group a session went out first and the track keeps breaking down.

Ken lost backend going into rythm section and had small get off from slippery conditions

Mid session times are a couple of seconds off of earlier 250 session times. The track is definitely slowing down.

Jett waited to late in session to put up his better times. This feels like a strategy at this point to wait and put up the fast times late in sessions.

Roczen has a slow session after having the early get off at 13th

Eli with late fast lap to jump to top of 450 group a qualifying and edge out Jett by over a half second. His first fastest qualifier spot for the season.

Chase was sitting at the top and was topped by Jett and then Eli right at the end of the session.

250SX Qualifying 2

The second session for 250 group b the track was more broken down. There was track work done between sessions but still very wet and the ruts that were fixed quickly returned. Mosiman was up top in the session again but almost three seconds off his first session time which is the result of the track condition changes.

Midwest riders Biese was in the top 10 in this session and Saultz was in the top 15 both looking at racing in the hear races tonight.
Shimoda and Smith occupied the top spots for most of round 2 of qualifying. They both looked better than the first session.

Shimoda ended with a 52.881 just a second off from the fastest time in session 1 that had a better track.

450SX Qualifying 2

Group a practice start say Larrence, Tomac and Webb all fighting for the test holeshot with Webb edging them out by going inside.

Webb out of the gate and jumps right into a heater lap and throws a 54.377 out to jump to top early in the session.

Jett had a nice save after swapping back and forth between two jumps. But still jumped up to just edge out Webb for the top spot.

Hunter jumping up to second place in the session just two tenths behind Jett just past halfway through the session.

Webb, Tomac, and Sexton all leap froged the Lawrence brothers in this session.

The whoops are becoming more jumpers and probably will be in night race.

Jett leaps to the top with under a minute left in the session with a 52.115 and good enough to give him fastest overall for the day.
