Three Supercross championships wrapped up by Jett, RJ, and Tom

Last night we saw the final round of the 2024 Supercross season and three champions were crowned all of which were first time champs. The 450SX premier class title was won by Jett Lawrence. While Tom Vialle won the 250SX East title and RJ Hampshire grabbed the 250SX West title.

Jett Lawrence 450SX Champion

The 450SX title was a bit of a roller coaster ride this season and it made from some great entertainment. We saw Jett win round 1 and everyone proclaimed that he would easily win the championship only to see him struggle in the mud for several rounds and get into a squabble with Anderson which seemed to raise tensions. He would regain his composure and grab a few more wins and then have some struggle again. He did finish the season out strong with multiple wins when he needed them after getting into a points tie with Cooper Webb late in the season. Jett handled business late and knocked off several wins and entered the last round with a 20 point lead and just needing to avoid a disaster to snag the crown in his 450SX rookie season.

Tom Vialle 250SX Champion

Tom grabbed his first Supercross championship in his sophomore season after moving over to the US from MXGP to see if he could figure out how to win in Supercross. He rode pretty consistently all year but had a good burst mid-season with a couple of wins that helped propel him toward the points lead and in a position to capitalize when chaos struck in Nashville. He joins several other French riders that had good success in Supercross and we now eagerly watch as racing moves outdoors and he is a favorite to contend for the Pro Motocross title in 250 also.

RJ Hampshire 250SX Champion

In the tighter of the two 250SX title races RJ Hampshire won the west coast title. RJ and Levi entered the night tied in points which made it easy, to finish ahead of the other guy and win the title. There was no complex math needed just go out and execute which is what RJ did. He got the start he needed running in the top three early in the race and moved up to second. While Levi lingered multiple spots behind and had a tough time advancing throughout the race. Whether it was tough racing ahead of him or a one-lined track it was a big deal that RJ nailed the start and rode free of any big mistakes. This is RJ’s first Supercross title as he was runner-up the last two years behind Jett.
