2022 North Central Region Area Qualifier - Sunset Ridge MX

With better weather and a week of rest, many of the same riders showed up at Sunset Ridge MX in Walnut Illinois for another chance. Sunset ridge is a beautiful sand track that would offer the riders a much different challenge than Byron’s muddy mulch experience. The track crew always does an excellent job on track prep and keeping the day running smooth. The turnout was strong again and this will be the second to last chance to earn a pass to regionals for the north central region.

Sunset Ridge area qualifier

Better weather plus a more challenging track made for excellent racing this weekend. The large jumps and deep sand sections offer unique challenges that kept things exciting all day. Whether the 50 juniors or the pro sport classes were out people were excited and lining the fences during their riders motos.

B Classes

Talan Zollers had a strong showing in 250B and 250B limited classes with a second place in each of the two classes. The B classes also saw Collin Burns and Keegan Rowley both from Illinois advancing to the regional. In 450B and 450B limited we saw Rober Lopez, Collin Burns, and Tallan Zollers earn their pass to regionals.

C Class Warriors

C Classes

In 250C one of the wildest and biggest gaps in rider skills saw several of our regional riders earn their passes. They were Marshall Busse and. Dalton Hite. In 250C limited we saw Jeffrey Rinkel and Jackson Oehlhof advance, they both advanced in 250C jr also. The two riders to advance in 450C were Jeffrey Winkel and Marshal Busse.

125cc classes

125 Classes

The 125 class motos are always very competitive as many of the fastest supermini riders use the class as a good warm-up year in their progress towards the big bike classes. We saw Robert Rinkel advance in the 125C class and 125cc B/C had James Clough, Gavin Batson, and Peter Parenti moving to the next round.

Schoolboy Classes

The schoolboy classes are always filled with fast kids moving their way up also, we typically see the fast supermini and 125cc kids fill the gates. Schoolboy 1 saw James Clough, Riley Busse, and Peter Parenti advance. While schoolboy 2 allowed Tallon Zollers and Brayan Anstine to advance from our region.

Supermini Classes

Supermini classes are equal parts awesome and scary as it can be frightening how fast they go on these smaller bikes. But there is no doubt about the skill level these young riders have developed before they move up to the larger bikes.
