AMA Flat track race at Sycamore Speedway

This past weekend motorcycle racing returned to the Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park Illinois after a more than 30-year break. The speedway is typically a hub for stockcar racing but was excited to roll up its sleeves and host the AMA flat track series for a change of pace. The racing took place on Friday and Saturday with the first nice showcasing mostly amateur classes and riders. Friday also hosted a variety of classes with quads, small bike classes, and knobby tire bikes. This opened up the racing to more riders looking to try flat track racing or just looking for a new experience.

Saturdays racing brought more traditional flat track racing along with the pro racer classes ramping up the action and drawing a much larger audience. The event drew entrants from many different states making for a diverse field of riders.
