North Central Youth Regional - Tigerton MX
Along with the vet regional, the youth regional was marked on my calendar because I just love watching these little ones race. They are equal parts impressive and cute, you have to respect the talent and dedication at such a young age. The weather for the weekend was perfect, all sun and no rain like the previous wet mess at the vet regional.
It was our first time being up at Tigerton MX and was super impressed with the track. It had some fun and exciting sections that made for some great racing. Probably only complaint was there were way too many campers and trailers smashed into parking around the track. There was also an excessive amount of pit bikes even given the no pit bike rule for minors. Both of which made it difficult to get around and reach areas like the infield, starting line, or just the only access road in and out most of the time. If 20% or so of the campers were moved over into the camping field which was not too far away it would have opened up things much better. Also could have allowed for a dedicated part area for pit vehicles by the start line and sign-up area which would have kept them off the edges of the road. Other than those small gripes I thought the Tigerton team did an excellent job with keeping things moving fast and kept the track in good shape all weekend. The track held up well to the endless assault that these small riders unleashed on it.
Micro E (4-7) Limited
The E-bike class has definitely arrived for prime time this year if there were any non-believers left. The gates were full and the competition was fierce and just one of our local region rider punched that ticket to the ranch.
Parker Langer
Micro 1 (4-6) Shaft Drive
The bikes may be quiet but the cheers for these little bikes are crazy loud. The P.W. races are a fan favorite and nothing beats watching those big helmets wiggle around on their little bodies as they rip around the track. There was some jumping and a lot of passing in this hot moto class.
Knox Palmer
Knox Johnson
Micro 2 (4-6) Limited
Here is where the competition steps up, the bikes have more power and the real jumping starts to happen for these riders. Hearing these small 2-strokes rip around is always great.
Mason Wheeler
Huntley Durbin
Micro 3 (7-8) Limited
The older kids on similar-sized bikes make for faster racing and higher jumping before they graduate up to the 65cc class. The gates were full and after heat races the path to punching that ticket cleared up and kids knew what they needed to do.
Gavin Mccoy
Weston Otto
65cc (7-9) Limited
At this size, the bikes really start to scream like angry chainsaws and these more experienced riders push them to the limits.
Weston Otto
65cc (10-11) Limited
This moto class was out of this world this weekend, can’t wait to see them run at the ranch in August. A few of these little racers were clearing the big triple in the back that would scare most adults.
Caleb Luttrell
Carson Witman
Brecken Maas
85cc (10-12)
The 85cc classes were tough and our local riders did not fair well here as out of region riders dominated. We only saw a single rider from 85cc advance to the ranch and we are going to be behind them with everything we have.
Bentlee Walker
Mini Sr 1v(12-14)
Caden dudney
Jayce Wolf
Mini Sr 2 (13-15)
Nathan Hummel
Gunnar Heikkila
Supermini 1 (12-15)
The supermini bikes were set to light this track up with their impressive speed and throwing huge jumps for the crowd. The competition was strong but our local riders faired well with multiple earning their tickets to the ranch.
Riley Busse
Tristan Dalton
Grant Sweeney
Supermini 2 (13-16)
Nathan Bierbom
Girls (11-16)
The young ladies round up our coverage here but were certainly not last in excitement for the weekend. It was great to see so many talented girls punch their tickets to the ranch.
Hannah Oakes
Rylee Wurtz
