GT Arena Motocross Opening Rounds 1 & 2
This past weekend we saw the opening weekend of racing for the GT Arena Motocross 2023/24 season on November 3rd and 4th. The action took place in the Stormont Vail Events Center in Topeka Kansas. Besides a name change there was not much different for the series besides collapsing the previous 250 Pro and Open Pro classes into a single Pro class this year. Since most rode 250cc bikes in both classes this wont be a big change for most and still allows someone to race a 350 or 450 if they choose to.
Getting out of the gates first for the Arenacross season there a big pro turnout for the weekend. There were 31 pro entries for round 1 on Friday and a few less on Saturday. We expect the pro entries to reduce back to normal levels as many of the riders race other series such as AMA Arenacross and Supercross. One of the biggest standouts was Cheyenne as he looked significantly better than last season as he tries to get into form before pivoting over to race Supercross. Marquier also looked really strong putting the skills he honed racing Supercross to good use by working his way through the crowded field and qualifying fastest. Hicks looked good but between a switch to Yamaha from Honda and added competition he had his hands full in trying to get an early lead in the season points.

Amateur Racing
The amateur turnout was also strong for the opening weekend with just shy of 700 entries for both days of racing. The main news around amatuers was the addition of a 4 race championship for Supermini class that takes place over two race weekends with Topeka being the first. The points winner over those 4 rounds will win the Supermini crown for the season. There will be another 6 round championship for the schoolboy class this season also.
