PBR 2024 Unleash the Beast St Louis

The Pro Bull Riders (PBR) brought second event of the 2024 Unleash the Beast tour to the St Louis Enterprise Center on the first weekend of December. Saturday would be round 1 with Sunday afternoon providing round 2 that would see if current rookie leader Caden Bunch can hang onto the points lead or would someone else step up and grab it with a big weekend performance.

The Enterprise Center was decorated beautifully for the event with top notch visuals, sounds and pyro effects. The opening ceremony introduces the 40 athletes to the audience and does so with plenty of pyro, flames and lighting. Action starts within minutes after as you can hear the bulls clanking in the fencing leading up to the gates just as ready to get the night started as the riders. To keep the flow moving along all during the event, Brinson the Entertainer did a great job of energizing the crowd and keeping them occupied in between the action.

Round 1

The first round took place on Saturday evening with 40 riders that would attempt to score points by lasting the required 8 seconds. The evening flowed very smooth and quick with only a couple of red flags and challenges which led to just a couple of re-rides. The young rookie Caden Bunch showed up with the early season points lead after winning the initial event of the 2024 season. He would not have a good round 1 failing to score points aboard Soul King, lasting only 2.53 seconds before tasting the Missouri dirt. The top performer would ben Eduardo Aparecido aboard Risky Business for a score of 88.25. Local Missouri native Bob Mitchell rode Doze Off and ended up in a four way tie for fourth place on the evening.

This win also vaults him into first place in the tour points with a 60 point lead over Caden Bunch that went 0 for 2 after his impressive win in the last event. Dias is now 6 for 6 on the season proving that consistency is always important for the long run versus glimpses of greatness.

Man Hater was the top dog in the bull pen winning the Yeti “Built for the Wild” bull of the event award. The next event in the tour will be next weekend in Johnston, Pennsylvania.
