GT Arenacross Outlaws - DuQuoin, IL November 11/12, 2022

The weekend of November 11th and 12th brought rounds 3 and 4 of the arenacross outlaw series to the Southern Illinois Center in DuQuoin, IL. Two days of racing with amateurs practicing and qualifying each day. Each evening brings the amateur mains along with the pro’s qualifying and main events. This format makes for long days packed with tons of action. There was a large turnout for the weekend of racing with full gates for the main events and the majority of the amateur classes. The racing was hotly contested and a long set of whoops made for a tough challenge that separated the average from the best in each heat.

Friday Night results

Friday night saw Hicks the defending 2021 champion enter the weekend with the points lead looking to finish strong and expand his early points lead. The heat races were hotly contested but ended with Hicks at the top of both the 250 and 450 podiums at the end of the night. Brett Greenly also had a strong showing with a 3rd place podium finish in each class with Harlan and Harmon filing up the 2nd place finishes for the evening.

Saturday Night results

It may have been freezing cold outside but night two’s racing action was just as heated. Michael Hicks was looking to have the same success he had in the previous rounds and he ended up on top of the podium for both classes this night also. The 250 and 450 podiums were exactly the same for the evening with Grant Harlan locking up 2nd place and Cheyenne Harmon taking 3rd place for the evening.

The weekend of racing was action-packed and kept the riders and audience engaged all day. The series heads towards Oklahoma for rounds 5 and 6 after a break of a few weeks. Will Hicks keep his spot on top of the podium or will we see one of the hungry riders on his heels take that top spot in the coming rounds?
