Malcolm was involved in the crash that also claimed Justin Barcia in Anaheim One the opening round of the AMA Supercross season. The crash looked terrible and most feared the aftermath would have been far worse than its turned out to be. Stewart suffered a dislocated shoulder that was able to be fairly routinely put back into place. He also suffered fractures in the scapular area. The good news is that neither of these injuries will require surgery, and the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team reported that he has been cleared medically to return to riding.
He was able to return to riding with his teammates late this week and will return to racing this weekend in San Diego.
