Arlington Supercross Round 7 wrap up

Its late February and round 7 of Monster Energy Supercross is rolling into Arlington Texas. The points in both classes are still very tight for this point in the season and everyone is still waiting for one or two athletes in each to start separating themselves from the field. The Arlington round is a popular stop on the Supercross tour and in the 450 class it has been Cooper Webb’s house as the rider with the most wins.

250 Class

The battle for 250 East supremacy started with Deegan grabbing the holeshot only to have the lead quickly taken from him by Forkner. Austin was riding a near perfect race clicking off laps when tragedy struck in a rhythm lane. He came up a few inches short which kicked his rear up and him forward and his left hand tearing off the bars causing the crash. The crash was one of the worst we’ve seen and the broadcast was avoiding a replay or even taking angles that avoided showing him on the side of the track. This along with what we saw left most fearing for the worst for Austin. We later saw him walking off with a neck brace on and hoping for the best.

After the crash there was just a few laps left which Haiden rode in the lead for the win with Mcadoo looking strong for a second place finish. Red plate holder Max Anstie would finish in sixth place but earn just enough points to keep the points lead going into Daytona. The wild first two weekends in the east region and seen different athletes have trouble so far keeping the points race close going into next weekend.

450 Class

The main event started with Jett grabbing the holeshot and leading for the next 23 laps, but then a few mistakes caused him to fallback to fourth place. Cooper Webb was riding a great race and was in the right place ready to pounce an take the lead when Jett faltered. Webb led the last four laps and grab the main event win in Arlington. Tomac had an average start but then a tip over a corner sent him back to around sixteenth place. He would make minimal progress in the first part of the race but them around halfway through the main event he tapped into that old “beast mode” and started marching through the field. He found his way to Plessinger’s back wheel where they battled for a few laps before making his way past the cowboy.
