Glendale Supercross post race notes
The track in Glendale is huge the lap times were almost 50% longer than Detroit last week. The rhythm sections were long and technical and more than a few athletes had trouble in them. Biggest news out of the heats was a big crash by Nate Thrasher, he was running close to the leaders when he came up short on a jump and the rear wheel kicked him up and over the bars. He looked to smash his chest on the bars then do a high flip through the air landing on his backside on the side of an adjacent jump. He crawled to safety but then you could see he was in considerable pain. He was taken out on the Alpinestars medical cart and later they said he was sent to local hospital for evaluation.
250 Main
Kitchen hole shot with smith right right on his tail
Fevered action in opening laps with a couple of lead changes between Kitchen and Smith all with RJ lurking close in 3rd
No not a great start again for Jo, he’s got the speed just needs a start. The team seems to be working hard towards this.
Smith slips out again after sand loosing lead falls back to 3rd, then crash in rhythm section and fell back to 8th
RJ wins and is first repeat winner in 250 west
Levi finishes second and keeps red plate
Jo grabs a third place and his first podium of the season
450 Main
Ken sneaks up the inside and is right there for the hole shot with Anderson right behind him
Plessigner washed the front and fell way back in the pack, total heartbreak as he was in podium spot and looking fast
Eli was running in third for most of the main event, but Jett was slowing working his way up towards him. He finally caught him and Eli kept him at bay for a couple of laps then Jett slipped by on the inside or maybe Eli just tossed him one knowing it was only a matter of time.
Ken goes wire to wire for the win with Anderson in 2nd and Jett in 3rd
Ken gets 22nd SX win
Press conference
My favorite question at the presser was about if any of the riders were considering quading any of the sections. Anderson took it first and said he looked at it but at his age does not want to take those unnecessary risks. Also mentioned he’s glad no one else did as it would force some of the others to do it also then. Ken had similar thoughts to Jason on the quad. Jett answered that he had thought about quading but just could never get a good clean run through the section.
