Triumph makes its official debut at SuperMotocross World Championship

Triumph entered the series officially in round 5 of 2024 series which was the Detroit race. We have all been waiting a bit to seem them in action on the track after being teased for so long in marketing campaigns. As the world got more of a look at the bike and its pieces we got more excited and comfortable that it wasn’t going to be just another KTM.

Triumph is the eighth manufacturer to join the series with existing members Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, Beta, KTM, Gas Gas, and Husqvarna. In the last four years this is the third new manufacturer to enter the series with Gas Gas joining in 2021 and Beta earlier this year also. More motorcycle brands means more factory teams and athletes in the series, which reflects the health of SuperMotocross. As an official series partner we should expect to see and hear about Triumph often between mentions on the broadcast to involvement in fan fest.

The Triumph team will consist of two riders for 250 East Supercross season and a third will be added for the outdoor Pro Motocross season. This week in Detroit we got to see Jalek Swoll and Evan Ferry race and Joey Savatgy will join them for the outdoor season. Both athletes and the bike looked great on press day as we finally got that up close and personal experience. Last season at the SMX final round in Los Angeles everyone got to see Ricky ride the motorcycle around the track but it was not raced or allowed to get up close.

The team finished with Swoll in 6th place and Ferry in 22nd due to a massive first corner start crash that send Ferry into the wall. Ferry had some trouble in the heat race but won the LCQ to advance to the main event. Overall a solid showing for their first weekend of racing. There is sure to be lots to learn about the bikes and changes to make and their young talented athletes will continue to gel with the bikes.
