The SMX Championship postseason is coming to a close this weekend in Las Vegas at the World Championship Fueled by Monster Energy. The points have been multiplying at each round, and the finale will award triple points. The graphic below shows the points awarded for each finishing position to better help understand any scenarios explained below. The good news is that both the 250 and 450 classes have a couple of scenarios that could walk away with the big money prizes. The win bonus for the 250 class is $500,000, and the 450 class pays $1,000,000. With these numbers, you can expect some intense battles and maybe a little extra extracurricular activities.

250 SMX Class
Going into Las Vegas, it is mostly a two-rider battle between Jo Shimoda and Haiden Deegan, but you cannot count out Seth Hammaker either. Anyone else while mathematically it might still be possible, the chance of multiple riders at the top having disastrous nights is not likely. The easiest scenario is for Jo Shimoda, he just needs to win or finish second, and he will win the championship. Haiden is the next one who has the best path, sitting in second place. He would need to win, and for Jo to finish in third or worse on the overall evening. For Seth to win the championship, he would need to win, and for Jo to finish third or worse, so not that different than Haiden’s scenario.

450 SMX Class
In the 450 SMX class, it is a winner-takes-all scenario between the two Lawrence brothers, with them being separated by only six points. This is similar to last year, as they entered close in points but ended up tied, and the overall win gave Jett the tiebreaker. The other real shot would be for Eli Tomac, sitting in third place and sixteen points behind Jett and ten behind Hunter. If Eli won, he would need Hunter to finish third or worse and for Jett to finish fourth or worse. Neither of those is impossible, but with how the brothers have been riding, I would not bet against them.
