Eli Tomac had surgery to repair is broken and displaced fibula on Friday the 14th in Colorado, and the following Wednesday, he sat down for a video interview with Donn from Swap. These Eli interviews are pretty rare over his decorated career, and he has been making himself more available this year, and an update on his status during this injury is great.
In the interview, he mentioned that he did not go to the medical rig after the incident happened in qualifying. Instead, he raced his heat race when the issue did not get any better. He then went and got an X-ray at medical, but he felt it was an ankle issue, so the focus was on that and why the fibula fracture was probably not found then. He has now had his surgery, and the break was platted., he is resting and trying to keep the swelling down currently. He expects around a six-week recovery and then hopes to get the clearance to begin riding the bike again. If everything follows that initial estimation, he hopes to return for the last few rounds of this Supercross season. The gate drops would be great for him to get back into race shape before the outdoor Pro Motocross season starts.
